What Are Home Visits?
Home visits are confidential, one-on-one interactions where our dedicated volunteers meet with individuals or families in their own homes or a safe, private space. These visits allow us to understand each person’s unique circumstances and provide support tailored to their needs.
Our Home Visit Program is open to anyone in need, regardless of background, faith, or circumstances. Whether you’re struggling with financial hardship, feeling isolated, or navigating a personal crisis, we are here to help.

- Essential Assistance: Help with food, clothing, and other basic needs, depending on what you’re facing.
- Guidance and Resources: Information about community programs and services to empower you toward stability.
How to Request a Home Visit
Home visits are a core part of our mission. Our trained volunteers visit people in need directly in their homes or other private settings.
The purpose is to provide compassionate, personalized support, whether that means delivering food, clothing, and household items, offering financial assistance, or simply being a caring presence and listening ear.
These visits are always confidential and typically carried out by two volunteers. They aim to build trust and relationships, helping individuals and families break cycles of poverty and isolation. The support provided can range from emergency assistance (like food hampers or vouchers) to referrals for additional services, and is available to anyone in need, regardless of their background or beliefs.
On Vancouver Island, home visits may also include outreach to the sick, elderly, or housebound, and can extend to hospitals, hospices, residential homes, and even correctional facilities, focusing on both material and emotional support.

Why Home Visits Matter
Home visits are more than just providing assistance—they are a lifeline for those facing difficult circumstances, including isolation and loneliness. For many, especially seniors and individuals our visits are an essential connection to the outside world.
- Combating Loneliness: Many individuals, particularly the elderly, face social isolation that can impact their mental and emotional well-being. Our volunteers provide companionship and a caring presence, reminding people that they are not alone.
- Supporting the Elderly: Home visits ensure that seniors have access to essential resources and someone to check in on their well-being. These visits often serve as a lifeline for individuals who may have limited mobility or no nearby family.
